My Story begins in a small rural town in Southwestern Wisconsin of around 400 people. My graduating class was 37 people. While in high school, some friends and I formed a small rock band and I was the drummer. We didn't know enough songs to play a whole show, so we played music in between. Our lead singer didn’t like to talk on the microphone, so I picked up the microphone and made the announcements that needed to be made. That launched me into the world of being a DJ. I was the DJ at a popular bar in the Lacrosse, Wisconsin area for 25 years. We created a mobile DJ business out of that place that I always did as a side project to any job that I happened to be in. Those jobs ranged from wholesale food sales to retail management to lumber sales to banquet manager to bar manager and pretty much anything in between. In 2012, our family moved to the Denver area to take the DJ business to another level and make my passion my full-time thing in a bigger market. After building a successful DJ business and being in that world for 34 years, I found myself wanting to spend more time with my kids and being available for their after school activities, hence my “why” to do something else.
So why voice over? I love being on a microphone and entertaining a crowd of people. I also have a passion for helping people achieve their goals. After getting compliments on my voice for several years, I decided to look into voice over work. While thinking about it, of course social media picks up on your thoughts and put the Such A Voice webinar in front of me. I decided to take the course and here I am today. I am excited to be able to use my voice to help someone sell their products or bring a character to life in a movie or in someone's book or be the voice of a training module to help a company train their employees. I am learning that there are so many different ways this opportunity can go and I am open to trying them all.
Being a DJ for several years, I have a high aptitude for recording and editing using various computer software. Being a dad for several years, I am always making the goofy character voices from the movies they watch. They find it hilarious to have me do all of my “voices'' in front of their friends. To me, that is one of the best compliments I can get. I think that my ability to go from announcer to concerned dad to fun dad to teacher / trainer mode gives me the versatility to be effective in a variety of voice over roles. My fun, energetic, entrepreneurial spirit makes me the perfect partner for your next voice over project!
